The Bias ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use The Bias mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information: Your email address, used to create and manage your account.
- Clothing photos: Photos you upload of your clothing items. These are stored securely and used solely to build your digital closet.
- Style profile: Your style vibe, budget preference, gender expression, and colour season — provided voluntarily during onboarding or in your profile.
- Body measurements: Height, weight, and body measurements you optionally provide to receive size recommendations (Fit tier subscribers only).
- Wear logs: Records of which outfits you've worn and when, used to calculate cost-per-wear analytics.
- Push notification preferences: Your notification settings and device push token (for future server-sent notifications).
- Subscription status: Your current subscription tier (Free, Style, or Fit), managed via RevenueCat.
- Shop interactions: Products you tap to view or purchase, used to improve recommendations.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and personalise the app (outfit suggestions, shop recommendations, colour season analysis)
- To process and display your clothing photos in your closet
- To provide size recommendations based on your measurements and fit history
- To send local notifications (morning reminders, occasion alerts, fit nudges) — all scheduled on your device
- To calculate wardrobe analytics (cost-per-wear, most worn items)
- To manage your subscription and purchases
3. Third-Party Services
The Bias uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Supabase — our backend database and authentication provider, hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the United States. Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers.
- Google Cloud Vision API — used to automatically identify clothing categories and colours from photos you upload. Photos are sent to Google's servers for processing and are not retained by Google beyond the API request.
- Remove.bg — used to remove backgrounds from clothing photos to improve visual presentation. Photos are sent to Remove.bg servers for processing and are not retained beyond the request.
- RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions and purchase verification. RevenueCat processes your App Store / Google Play purchase data in accordance with their privacy policy.
- OpenAI — Style and Fit subscribers receive AI-generated outfit suggestions. Your style profile and occasion details are sent to OpenAI to generate suggestions. No clothing photos are sent to OpenAI.
- Affiliate networks (Amazon Associates, AWIN, and others) — when you tap a product to shop, we generate an affiliate link. Clicking these links may result in the retailer setting cookies on your browser.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase (AWS US East), protected by row-level security policies that ensure only you can access your own data. Clothing photos are stored in Supabase Storage with private access controls. We use HTTPS for all data in transit. API keys for third-party services are stored as server-side secrets and never exposed in the app.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data (including all photos, profile information, and wear logs) is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Withdraw consent for optional features (e.g., notifications, body measurements)

7. Children's Privacy
The Bias is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
